What is "The BOW Collective"?
The Black Owner and Women's Collective ("The BOW Collective") is a groundbreaking organization of Black women business owners who partner together and compete for large-scale contracts in both the public and private sectors. Our membership is made up of Black women business owners who average 15 years in business, have more than 1050 total employees, and have grossed over $250MM in revenue collectively. We also have sister business members who have grossed $250K, who are being mentored to scale their businesses.
The BOW Collective plans to grow our businesses by focusing on the 3Cs--Capital, Communications, and Contracts. A primary strategy of the Collective is to leverage our relationships with Fortune 500 companies and government agencies to broker multi-year contracts. Additionally, we want stronger banking relationships and investment opportunities for our businesses.
Capital
While black women start small businesses at high rates, we don't receive sufficient funding to scale our endeavors. Thus, our businesses, on average, generate a mere $24,000 annually. The BOW Collective wants to bring awareness to and change those statistics through stronger banking relationships and resources.
Communications
The BOW Collective members have succeeded inspite of those dire statistics and we want to share our stories, our successes and our struggles, with those women in business attempting to scale their businesses. We want to create the black women's pipeline by offering resources and relationships needed to grow.
Contracts
One of the best aspects of The BOW Collective is that we are eliminating the word "competition" and replacing it with "collaboration". We have our members working together to go after large scale contracts both in the public and private sectors.
